THE COTTAGE

This three-storey cottage boasts two double bedrooms, one bunk bedroom and two bathrooms, each with a bath and a powerful overhead shower.

Cosy and contemporary, the cottage is centrally heated, with a wood-burning fire in the open-plan living room/kitchen area together with wifi, smart TV and DVD player. There’s also a suntrap patio where you can wash down boards and wetsuits after a day on the beach, or sit out and enjoy a drink, soaking up the final rays of the day.

THE BEACH

The nearest beach is Bantham, named by Lonely Planet in 2015 as one of the 10 best beaches in Europe. Here, in the summer months, you can learn how to surf, swim, or snack on gourmet burgers and pizzas bought from the gastrobus stationed in the large car park. Alternatively, walk from the cottage in Aveton Gifford for 90 minutes following a scenic route overlooking the Avon Estuary that ends with glimpses of Burgh Island shimmering in the distance. (From Bigbury, there’s the huge tractor for when the tide comes in that transports visitors to the hotel and the historic Pilchard Inn). If swimming’s your thing, every July the Bantham Swoosh organised by the Outdoor Swimming Society follows the same Avon route inland. Even better, have fun "swooshing" at leisure when the tide turns. There's nothing else like it!

SOUTH HAMS

The South Hams, where the emphasis is on walking, sailing, and swimming, is undoubtedly the jewel in Devon’s crown. It boasts bustling towns including Kingsbridge, Totnes and Dartmouth filled with interesting shops, many of which offer an eclectic and compelling edit of food, antiques, books and sailing-themed gear. 2 Court Cottages is also near Salcombe, the South West Path and the wide, open spaces of Dartmoor, all only a short drive away.
